Abstract
The acquisition of critical thinking (CT) is a categorically crucial thing as one of the 21st-century skills. Therefore, training the CT skill effectively in terms of learning activities needs detailed exploration. The current study applies ethno-inquiry model in e-learning platform and evaluates its impact on CT skills of preservice science teachers (PSTs). The experimental design employed the randomized pretest-posttest control design with involving 62 PSTs as the respondents, which are divided equally into the experiment and control groups. The CT skill was assessed using essay tests. The test was focused on the CT skills dealing with analysis, inference, evaluation, and decision-making indicators. The CT scores were analyzed using parameters of the average pretest-posttest. The learning treatment effects were calculated using paired t-test and ANCOVA at the significance level of 0.05. The findings demonstrated that the CT score for the experimental group increased from ‘less critical’ to ‘critical’. This result was better than the control group. Similarly, the improvement of individual CT performance was better in the experimental group. Based on the results of analysis, the t-test and ANCOVA of both groups confirmed that the ethno-inquiry model was significant effect on the CT skills. It means that the results provide
